♦ Forget Me Not… (MSSS)

  • Theme: Forget Me Not
  • Challenge/Month: Monthly Simlit Short Story/March 2023
  • Genre: Angst
  • Word/Picture Count: 1,000 words/12 pictures

A/N: This is the first time in a long time that I’ve whipped up something for MSSS and I feel a bit rusty, to be sure. Why did this turn out as pure angst? I have no idea, that’s just where the prompt took me lol I also used Bluebells to represent Forget Me Nots because it’s the only blue flower that resembled it.

This is also the first new story that I’m posting on this blog. Hooray! Enjoy the unnecessary angst lol

For as long as I can remember, there has always been a baby blue flower on my bedside table every morning. I have no idea where they come from and, when I asked my mom about it, she always said that I probably put it there and just forgot about it. At first, I was adamant that I had nothing to do with it, but she insisted. After years of being told this, I started believing it myself.

♦ Challenge; Astrodiac

This challenge was created by me.

Introduction;

Hello and welcome to a little challenge that I thought up randomly one day. Certainly not the first astrology-themed challenge out there but I’m hoping mine will be original enough that you decide to give it a shot. There’s a couple things I want to mention first, though.

I used this site (https://www.astrology.com/zodiac-signs) and this site (https://www.lifestyleasia.com/ind/astrology/zodiacs/zodiac-signs-and-power-colours/) to determine the best colors, traits and aspirations. Keep in mind that many of the signs share traits but I didn’t want to overlap them, I wanted each one to be used only once. Please do not get offended if you think I misrepresented your sign! It’s just for fun, remember?

The Story;

Your sim has been chosen to become the heir of the Bloom family, an ancient bloodline of sims that are the sworn protectors of the Astrodiacs. Your sim’s family will be rewarded with 180,000 simoleons per year as compensation and your sim will be moved to the Astrodiac manor in Glimmerbrook where they will be tasked with raising the next generation of Astrodiac heirs.

Will they succeed in their goal and earn enough riches to live the life they’ve only dreamed of? Or will they crash and burn, their soul crushed by the siblings?

♦ All That Matters (MSSS)

  • Challenge/Date: Monthly Simlit Short Story/December 30th, 2019
  • Genre: Slice of Life, Fluff, Family
  • Word/Picture Count: 989 words/7 pictures
  • Prompt: Family

A/N: This is my first entry for the Monthly SimLit Short Story Challenge by lisabee2. I’m super late on this, but I’m happy that they let me join anyway ^~^/ It was kinda hard to write because I kept glancing at the word count to make sure I didn’t go over 1k, but I’m happy with the result. I hope you all enjoy!

This story was moved from my old blog to here.

With a sigh, I peeled my eyes open and looked at the clock; two in the morning and I haven’t gotten a wink of sleep. I pulled myself out of bed and stepped out of the house, my feet crunching the snow as I stepped onto the sidewalk. The first snowfall of the season had started around four in the morning, covering Willow Creek in a soft blanket of white. My eyes scanned the street, lips tugging downward. The neighbor’s houses were all decorated with lights and Winterfest-themed banners, making their homes pop against the snow.

Although I’m a single father working two jobs to keep a roof over our head and food on the table, I always feel like a failure at this time of year because I can’t afford to decorate the house with lights or purchase a tree to sit in the living room, and I only have enough simoleons to get my daughter one small present. By nature, I’m a pretty goofy guy that doesn’t take life too seriously but seeing other families going all out for the holidays when I can’t afford the smallest of things makes me feel pretty gloomy.

♦ CJ Bonnaview (MSSS)

  • Challenge/Date: Monthly Simlit Short Story/January 5th, 2020
  • Genre: Biography, Family, Slice of Life
  • Word/Picture Count: 792 words/8 pictures
  • Prompt: New

A/N: So, we were tasked this month to create a new character and give them a backstory while stepping out of our comfort zone. I created CJ Bonnaview as the opposite of me – someone who loves attention, is attractive, and wants to be in the spotlight! I used no CC, which was a struggle for me lol and I have all of the packs except for the Moschino Stuff pack. I really hope this is up to standard because I had no idea what to do for this lol

I also filled out the PSD character profile that Lisabee posted but it wouldn’t save my answers so I just screenshotted them and uploaded to an album on Imgur which you can see here. I suck at character building and profiles but I did spend an hour filling it out so I wanted to share it 😛

Meet CJ Bonnaview, a thirty-year-old man living in Del Sol Valley with his parents, Joon and Liam Bonnaview. He’s a pretty self-absorbed sim with snobbish tendencies that’s far too up his own behind. In his eyes, he’s god’s gift to the earth and he won’t hesitate to let you know it!

His father, Liam, grew up poor before rising the fame through his music. Now, he’s a five-star celebrity and world-famous musician. His mother, Joon, is just as self-absorbed as her son, living for the fame and the fortune her husband provides.

Since he was a small child, CJ was pampered and praised, always told that he was the very best at everything he did, even when he wasn’t. He only needed to say what he wanted and it was presented to him atop a golden platter. Because of this, he’s full of entitlement, expecting the world to bend to his wills and wishes.

♦ Mittens the Kitten (SS)

  • Challenge/Date: December 28th, 2019
  • Genre: Slice of Life, Fluff, Family
  • Word/Picture Count: 2,805 words/20 pictures
  • Prompt: Firsts

A/N: So, I wrote this in dedication to my cat, Mittens. She was my first pet and she was the best damn cat in the world, so smart and loyal. She was my rock, my best friend, but in February of 2019, I lost her. I’m still grieving nearly a year later and I wanted to write this. I hope it’s not trash.

This story was moved from my old blog to here.

Mischief Westfall’Straud headed into the dining room where her son was sitting, working on his homework. She smiled, taking the chair beside him, “How was school, sweetheart?”

“It was good,” Vilbert returned the smile, tapping the end of his pencil on the paper. It was a habit he had picked up whenever he had something on his mind and Mischief knew it well.

“Did something happen at school?”

“Something…” he tilted his head back as he recalled his day.

“Today was show-n-tell, wasn’t it?” She wondered. “What was it you took again?”

♦ No Pants (SS)

  • Date: January 30th, 2020
  • Genre: Comedy, Family, Slice of Life
  • Word/Picture Count: 666 words/10 pictures
  • Prompt: “Is there any particular reason you’re not wearing pants?” “The monster under my bed had a date.”

A/N: I’ve looked everywhere for the pic that this prompt came from but I can’t find the source. There’s no watermark on the image and I tried an image search and a text search but I just couldn’t find it :/ If anyone knows the source, please let me know! Harley was created by CXonor13 but I changed her a bit for this story because I really liked the thought of Domestic! Harley from Suicide Squad.

This story was moved from my old blog to here.

Harley hummed in tune with the classical music that filled the room, letting her brush stroke across the canvas, covering the white surface with various shades of grey and blue. She had no vision in mind for the piece – she just had the urge to paint something, anything.

When she isn’t working, she’s taking turns with her husband to raise their two kids – a twelve-year-old boy named Jacks and a three-year-old girl named Hayley. Because of this, she rarely has time for her own hobbies.

For the first time since she was born, little Hayley went down for her nap without a fuss and actually stayed there. Harley nearly had heart failure after five minutes passed without the toddler sneaking from her room. The great creator had gifted her with this chance for some much needed alone time. How could she possibly refuse?

♦ The Cherry Tree (SS)

  • Date: January 5th, 2020
  • Genre: Friendship, Fluff
  • Word/Picture Count: 1,747 words/14 pictures

A/N: This story was moved from my old blog to here.

Addi smiled brightly as she stepped into Magnolia Blossom park, her eyes scanning the nature around her. Although the pond and the river, and the various flora and fauna were quite nice to look at, she had something else that, in her opinion, was ten times more beautiful; a cherry tree, in full bloom at the beginning of summer.

No matter what emotion she was feeling, she felt happy sitting under the cherry tree. Sometimes, she wondered if its roots were filled with magic.

♦ One Stormy Night (MSSS)

  • Theme: Horror/Suspense/Thriller
  • Challenge/Date: Monthly Simlit Short Story/March 27, 2021
  • Genre: Friendship, attempted horror, crime
  • Word/Picture Count: 999 words/12 pictures

A/N: So, I’m not at all confident in this story :/ I feel like it’s super cliché and just… stupid. But I put in the work, so I might as well post it, hey? This was written for the March 2021 edition of the Monthly SimLit Short Story Challenge (here’s the forum thread for it, as well). I also struggled with the word count. I was over 700 words over and had to seriously downsize, so I feel like the “story” is way too choppy but I can’t think of anything better so… here’s my trash lol

This story was moved from my old blog to here.

Bennett preferred his life as a hermit, living deep in the woods of Granite Falls. This left him isolated, something he had grown quite fond of. His day started like any other, the sky covered with clouds, the air chilly.

He had just finished watering his plants and headed inside when he heard a sound coming from the storage room. Curious, he headed over to check.

What he found was more than he bargained for. A man dressed in all black stood there, axe gripped within his hand. He saw his target and the man raised the axe high.

Bennett’s lips parted and the man brought the axe down with one quick stroke, impaling it within the hermit’s skull.
